After the ban ended there was extensive burning-off in the province, causing severe smoke pollution. Agencies in all districts had been put on full alert, ready to douse any forest fires. Forestry officials, soldiers, and volunteers and would join fire teams dispatched to put out forest fires as soon as they were detected.
